Role Overview:
The AWS Design Engineering team is searching for a highly talented and motivated Physical Security Architect/Engineer to join our enterprise data center design team. This role involves designing future data centers to enhance the effectiveness of physical security programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and engineer low voltage systems.
- Utilize BlueBeam and other drafting technologies to collaborate with design teams and produce designs in Revit/CAD.
- Create specifications and scope of work documentation templates for local project managers to use for vendor bids.
- Provide technical and design support for local physical security teams.
- Coordinate with various disciplines in the design process of new buildings (architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil, IT, etc.).
- Supervise and approve design deliverables developed by local physical security teams at each project milestone.
- Analyze, accept, or reject alternate designs and mitigation measures proposed by local physical security teams when standard designs cannot be applied.
- Act as a subject matter expert to support the implementation of new technologies.
- Work regionally and support the global Physical Security Architect (PSA) team to ensure alignment on decisions and standards.
- Domestic and international travel for up to a week at a time.
Skills:
- Proficiency in designing and engineering low voltage systems.
- Expertise in using drafting technologies like AutoCAD, BlueBeam, and Revit/CAD.
- Strong technical and design support capabilities for physical security teams.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple disciplines in the design process.
- Supervisory skills to oversee design deliverables and project milestones.
- Analytical skills to evaluate alternate designs and mitigation measures.
- Subject matter expertise in implementing new security technologies.
- Effective communication skills to support regional and global teams.
- Capability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
Qualifications:
Basic:
- BA/BS degree in Architectural, Electrical Engineering, or Physical Security, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years’ experience in physical security system design and engineering.
- 5+ years’ experience with drafting technologies such as AutoCad, BlueBeam, and others.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree or higher in a related field.
- Proficient in speaking and writing English; knowledge of a second language is a plus.
- Physical security design experience in corrections, military, government, or museum environments.
- Certifications such as PSP, CPP, PMP, or CPTED.
