Technical Product Owner

What You Will Do

As the Product Owner of the SketchUp 3D Warehouse backend, you will lead efforts to refine and reimagine how millions of 3D models are delivered to customers worldwide. Collaborating with multiple front-end and application teams, you’ll balance and reconcile diverse stakeholder requirements. Embedded in a highly skilled scrum team, you’ll guide development with your understanding of customer needs and scalable engineering practices. Your technical acumen and vision will shape the future of the 3D Warehouse platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Business-Technical Alignment: Act as a liaison between business and technical teams, ensuring alignment of goals and development priorities.
• Requirement Transformation: Translate business needs into API specifications and technical platform requirements.
• Roadmap Ownership: Define and maintain the roadmap for the 3D Warehouse Platform team, aligning it with broader business objectives.
• Backlog Management: Prioritize and manage the product backlog based on business needs, dependencies, and events.
• Collaboration: Work closely with Product Owners, Product Managers, and leadership to shape the product roadmap and future enhancements.
• Customer Engagement: Engage with customers, SMEs, and customer experience teams to understand workflows and extrapolate actionable requirements.
• Agile Delivery: Partner with the engineering team to refine requirements, deliver features, and actively participate in scrum team meetings.
• Training & Support: Provide technical training and support to internal teams, ensuring they are prepared for product releases.
• Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery and alignment of cross-functional goals.
• Industry Participation: Represent the platform in trade associations, seminars, and technical working groups.

What Skills & Experience You Should Bring

Required Skills:

• 3+ years of experience in a product development environment.
• Background as a Product Manager, Product Owner, or software developer.
• Strong communication skills for business and technical stakeholder interactions.
• Understanding of RESTful API design patterns and modern web service practices.
• Ability to balance long-term vision with immediate delivery goals.
• Technical aptitude and familiarity with development teams and processes.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• Experience or understanding of Agile methodologies.
• Knowledge of cloud computing technologies such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
