Overview

As a Microsoft Data Center Technician (DCT), your primary responsibilities include staging, setting up, and deploying hardware. You'll also troubleshoot, diagnose, and decommission hardware, following Standard Operating Procedures for simple changes and refreshes.  Qualifications

Required:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware and components
- 1+ year of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology

Background Check Requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements
- Must pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter

Preferred:
- 2+ years of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology
- Relevant certifications: CompTIA (A+, Server+, Network+), Basic Structure Cabling (BSC)

 Responsibilities

- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues according to standard procedures, quickly identifying causes and replacing faulty components with minimal disruption.
- Perform post-execution quality checks to ensure proper setup of grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling following safety protocols, deployment standards, and Network Design Tasks (NDTs).
- Decommission hardware for simple changes and refreshes (e.g., memory upgrades, rebuilds) with minimal guidance.
- Communicate, report, and escalate incidents to appropriate data center operations management, Technician Leads, and engineering specialists according to procedures.
- Provide assistance and guidance to other technicians on complex tasks.
- Complete required training for the role and workload, gaining hands-on experience and relevant on-the-job training by observing more experienced technicians.
- Contribute to a positive team environment by sharing information, participating in team meetings, asking questions, and staying updated on others' work.
- Take pride and ownership of service quality, completeness, and user experience, displaying accountability for the data center facilities.
