Role Overview
Position: Area Manager Portfolio Management
Scope: Selected Tata Steel Group Companies (TSGC)
Primary Function: Serve as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) between Tata Steel and specified TSGC entities, addressing various business matters and ensuring cohesive operations.
Key Responsibilities
-Collaboration and Coordination:
- Work closely with the Key Management Personnel (KMP) of TSGCs to monitor performance, review ongoing projects, and enhance synergy within the Tata Steel ecosystem.
- Board Support:
- Assist TSL nominee directors with board meeting insights and provide support on critical issues as needed.
- Performance Tracking:
- Provide detailed inputs to the TSL Leadership team to monitor the overall operational and financial performance of TSGCs.
- Generate Management Information System (MIS) reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for all TSGCs.
- Financial Analysis and Reporting:
- Conduct financial reviews and analyses of assigned companies.
- Analyze board papers and support TSL nominee directors with insights derived from these analyses.
- Develop financial models and perform business valuations for raw material bidding (e.g., coal and other mining auctions), acquisitions, restructuring proposals, and funding for group companies.
- Evaluate lead and lag indicators to monitor TSGC performance.
- Restructuring and Compliance:
- Participate in the restructuring of TSGCs as part of the Portfolio Simplification initiative.
- Assess capital projects according to the Group Capital Governance Process.
- Review ongoing capital schemes to ensure compliance with the TSGC Capital Governance framework.
- Liquidity and Process Improvement:
- Manage liquidity by arranging funds for TSGCs, including raising PAF and upstreaming dividends to TSL.
- Enhance processes by adopting best practices across TSGCs and providing support as necessary.
- Foster synergies within TSGCs by exploring cost-saving and value-creation opportunities in collaboration with the TSL Shikhar Team.
Required Skills and Experience
- Experience:
- 3-5 years in finance/strategy roles.
- Proficiency in financial modeling, business valuation, and financial statement analysis.
- Technical Competencies:
- Strong understanding of business functions within a company.
- Skilled in secondary research and familiar with various online databases.
- Knowledgeable in portfolio management mechanisms and financial/ratio analysis.
- Behavioral Competencies:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong presentation and Excel skills.
- Effective collaboration and stakeholder management abilities.
Qualifications
- Chartered Accountant (CA) or Engineer with an MBA in Finance.
